As IPS-Kenya embarks on a transformative journey toward 2025, our focus remains steadfast on promoting best public service laws and practices across Kenya, with a particular emphasis on innovation, inclusion, and impact. Our work spans Nairobi, Kajiado, Narok, Vihiga, Bungoma, Kakamega, and Busia counties, targeting public service institutions, government agencies, civil society, and the media to drive systemic change. Innovation is central to our mission. In Nairobi County, we are piloting AI-driven tools to streamline recruitment and selection processes in public offices, ensuring transparency and efficiency. In Kakamega and Bungoma, we are introducing digital platforms for citizen feedback on public service delivery, fostering accountability and trust. Inclusion is a cornerstone of our strategy. In Narok and Kajiado, we are working with local governments to ensure marginalized communities, including women and persons with disabilities, are represented in public service roles. Our initiatives in Vihiga and Busia focus on gender-responsive policies and training programs to empower women in leadership positions. Impact is our ultimate goal. Through partnerships with county governments and media outlets, we are amplifying success stories, such as the improved efficiency in public service delivery in Kakamega County, where our training programs have enhanced performance management systems. We call on stakeholders across all levels of government, private sector partners, and the media to join us in this mission. Together, we can build a public service sector that is innovative, inclusive, and impactful.
February: Digital Transformation: Bridging Gaps, Building Trust
Digital transformation is a key driver of IPS-Kenya’s mission to promote best public service practices. Across our regions of operation—Nairobi, Kajiado, Narok, Vihiga, Bungoma, Kakamega, and Busia—we are leveraging technology to bridge service delivery gaps and build trust between citizens and public institutions. In Nairobi County, we are collaborating with the county government to digitize human resource functions, including recruitment, performance appraisals, and grievance management. This initiative has already reduced processing times by 30%, setting a benchmark for other counties. In Kajiado and Narok, we are implementing mobile-based platforms for citizen engagement, enabling real-time feedback on public services. These tools are empowering communities to hold public officers accountable, fostering transparency and trust. In Vihiga and Busia, we are rolling out e-learning programs for public officers, equipping them with skills in digital governance and strategic leadership. These programs are part of our broader effort to modernize public service delivery in line with our specific objectives. However, scaling these initiatives requires significant funding and technical support. We appeal to donors, technology partners, and the media to join us in this critical endeavor. By investing in digital transformation, we can create a public service sector that is efficient, transparent, and citizen-centric.
March: Breaking Barriers: Women Leading the Way
At IPS-Kenya, we are committed to promoting gender equality in public service, aligning with our objective to advocate for best practices in human resource management. This March, we celebrate the achievements of women in public service across Nairobi, Kajiado, Narok, Vihiga, Bungoma, Kakamega, and Busia counties. In Nairobi County, we are supporting the Women in Public Service Fellowship, which provides training and mentorship for aspiring female leaders. Participants like Jane Mwangi, a young engineer leading eco-friendly housing projects, are breaking barriers and inspiring future generations. In Kakamega and Bungoma, we are working with county governments to implement gender-responsive policies, ensuring women have equal opportunities in recruitment, promotions, and leadership roles. These efforts are complemented by media campaigns that highlight the contributions of women in public service. In Narok and Kajiado, we are partnering with local organizations to address cultural barriers that hinder women’s participation in public service. Through community dialogues and training programs, we are fostering an inclusive environment where women can thrive. We call on all stakeholders—government agencies, civil society, and the media—to join us in creating a public service sector that values and empowers women. Together, we can break barriers and build a more equitable future.
April: Health for All: Innovations in Equitable Care
Access to quality healthcare is a fundamental right, and IPS-Kenya is at the forefront of promoting innovations that ensure equitable care for all. Across Nairobi, Kajiado, Narok, Vihiga, Bungoma, Kakamega, and Busia counties, we are working with county governments and healthcare providers to bridge gaps in service delivery. In Nairobi County, we are piloting the Telehealth Kenya initiative, which connects patients in underserved areas with specialists via video consultations. This program has already served over 10,000 patients, reducing the need for costly and time-consuming travel. In Kakamega and Bungoma, we are implementing the Community Health Worker App, which equips frontline workers with real-time data and resources. This innovation has increased immunization rates by 25%, demonstrating the power of technology in improving healthcare outcomes. In Narok and Kajiado, we are partnering with local organizations to address cultural barriers to healthcare access. Through community outreach programs and media campaigns, we are raising awareness about available services and empowering citizens to take charge of their health. To scale these initiatives, we urgently need funding and partnerships. We appeal to donors, healthcare providers, and the media to join us in this mission. Together, we can ensure that every Kenyan has access to the care they deserve. Target Groups and Media Engagement Our target groups include public service institutions, county governments, civil society organizations, and the media. By engaging these stakeholders, we aim to: Advocate for best public service laws and practices. Promote gender equality and inclusion in public service. Leverage technology to enhance service delivery. Amplify success stories through media partnerships. Through collaborative efforts, we can achieve our mission of promoting good governance, innovation, and modernization in public services across Kenya.
